Whenever possible, apps are installed in /Applications/Local


SVCD CREATION

***Make sure to add -s option to mpeg2enc

(VCD: bitrate 1152!)

Check FRAME RATE on nonstandard sources (such as DivX)!!

NOT NECESSARY ANYMORE: use iTunes to extract audio: import QT movie,
then convert to WAV or AIFF, then copy result to project directory.

track becomes hidden? to play: play - step - play

Requires "sequence header after every GOP" (-s in mpeg2enc) or "GOP
headers" (in ffmpegX options)
Do not forget <return ref="end"/> in each selection, otherwise the
stop key won't work.


PRINTING

to print remotely from OS X to Windows:

on Windows: start TCP/IP printing service

on OS X: use PrintCenter to add printers by IP number of and share
name on Windows machine

IE printing: when a lot of errors occur, restart IE and try again

problem printing PDF: try printing as image

persistent problems:

first check whether /tmp still exists! (symlink to /var/tmp)
use Print Center Repair

iPhoto:

1) page setup for photo paper if necessary

2) organize, select photos

3) use print button at bottom left (do not use print menu item)


FAXING

Do not fax PDF document from AcroRead; the resulting image gets
squished vertically. WORKAROUND: fax PDF or TIFF document using
preview.
