Running JBuilder 9 on OS X

Prerequisites

  • Existing JBuilder 9 installation on Windows or Linux machine.
  • OS X with Java 1.4.1 or better.

Installation

  • Copy the entire existing JBuilder installation directory from the other machine to a suitable directory on your Mac (I use /Applications/Development).
  • Rename the resulting JBuilder directory to JBuilder.framework.
  • (Optional: you can now delete JBuilder.framework/bin and JBuilder.framework/jdk1.4.)
  • Download this location-independent app bundle (50k).
  • Unzip the app bundle in the directory containing JBuilder.framework.
  • You should now be able to launch the resulting JBuilder 9 application.
  • This app bundle was tested with JBuilder 9 Personal. You might have to add more jars to the classpath in Jbuilder 9.app/Contents/Info.plist if you are using other versions of JBuilder.
